The corridor we book, and the two airports we do not
One band of ground between the city and one airport. This page exists so nobody relies on us being somewhere we are not.
Inside the zone
Reservations at lots in the band running from the southern edge of San Francisco down to SFO.
- Millbrae. The largest cluster of lots we book with, and the shortest shuttle leg on the corridor.
- San Bruno. Second largest, slightly further out, usually a dollar or two under Millbrae on the daily rate.
- South San Francisco. Good supply of oversized bays, which is the thinnest category everywhere else.
- Burlingame. Fewer lots, more covered decks, and the quietest gates on a Sunday evening.
- San Francisco itself. A handful of city lots for anybody who would rather leave the car in town and take rail to the airport. Different arithmetic, and we will lay it out if you ask.
Plus the airport itself as the destination, described on the SFO page.
The two airports outside it
Oakland and San Jose are not covered. Not a soft no: we book no lots there, we have no operators there, and a reservation request for either gets a straight answer the same day rather than a maybe.
It would be easy to say yes and forward the request to somebody. That is how a passenger ends up standing in the wrong county with a booking reference nobody recognises.
The edge of the zone
| Where | Answer |
|---|---|
| Daly City and Brisbane | Usually yes |
| San Mateo | Sometimes, with notice |
| Half Moon Bay | No |
| Hayward and the East Bay | No |
| Anywhere further south than San Mateo | No |
If you are near the line, ask. You will get a yes or a no rather than a booking that fails quietly.
A desk that accepts a reservation it cannot fill has not helped anybody. It has moved the moment of failure to the gate, where it costs a flight instead of costing us a booking.
What being inside the zone does not mean
It means an operator can usually be found for a normal stay at a normal hour. It does not by itself mean an oversized bay in the last week of December, which is a question about one category on one set of dates.
Ask early for those. The bay types page explains why oversized is the constraint.
Check your dates
Send them on the reservation form. A no comes back as a no, and no bay and no money will have moved while we were finding out.
To ask out loud, call +1 (415) 906-2431 and speak to a specialist. Requests are worked Monday to Thursday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm and Friday from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Pacific Time. The desk is closed at weekends, and a request that lands then is answered first thing on Monday.
